Marco Bonitta, head coach of Italy, was delighted after the match.
“I still can’t believe it’s real. I am really surprised about the result of the match. I had small hopes of beating such a strong team like USA, but my girls were fantastic. I am really proud of what they did tonight.”
On the other side, USA coach Karch Kiraly congratulated Italy on a victory.
“They did a great job and put us in difficulty. We have to put aside a disappointing loss and prepare for the match against Russia.”
