CACG W: Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic in final

Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico will play for the gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games’ Volleyball Tournament at the Cordoba Arena.

Dominican Republic outclassed Mexico in straight sets (25-11, 25-23, 27-25). Bethania de la Cruz scored 14 points for Dominican Republic while Prisilla Rivera tallied 13 and Annerys Vargas 12.  Seomara Sainz was the best scorer for Mexico with 13 points.

We knew that it was to be a very tough and exciting match, because we faced a very tough opponent like Mexico on their own soil and in front of their fans. They did good defensive plays. We are on the way we want,” stated Bethania de la Cruz, captain of Dominican Republic.

In the second semi-finals Puerto Rico has defeated Cuba in tie-break 25-23, 25-21, 14-25, 22-25, 15-13. Melissa Vargas scored 31 points for Cuba while Sarai Alvarez was the best scorer in tehwinning team with 28 points.
