Argentina, Peru and Colombia (Venezuela withdrew at the last moment) will compete for the second CSV place in the World Championship – the first vacancy was won by Brazil at the South American Championship – scheduled to take place from October 18 to 20.
“We have worked very hard to fulfil our goal of qualifying for the championship and we are very near its time. We will train even harder to maintain our dream of qualifying for next year’s World Championship,” said the coach of the Argentine team, Guillermo Orduna.
“Our goal for this year is to qualify for the tournament and this is the right moment,” said Yael Castiglione, setter for the Argentine team. “We are dreaming about returning to participate in the World Championship.”
The women’s team have been training hard at the Cenard facilities and will travel to San Juan ahead of the competition. The winning team of the qualification tournament will represent South America together with Brazil at next year’s FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship, which will take place in Italy from September 23 to October 12.
