Marcelo Mendez has ended his role as Argentina’s head coach after their 0–3 loss to Italy in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Volleyball World Championship.

“This stage of my life is over,” Mendez said following the match. “We worked hard during these years, saw young players develop, and always fought with dignity. I leave proud of what we achieved together.”

In six years with Argentina, he guided the team to historic success, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medal and the 2023 South American title.

Mendez, who previously coached top clubs in Brazil and Poland, will continue his career next season as head coach of Trentino Volley in Italy.
