The Argentinean expert Marcelo Méndez is appointed head coach of the men’s volleyball national team of his home country as from 2019. He will replace Julio Velasco, who will be at the helm until the end of the 2018 FIVB World Championship.
A 53-year-old Méndez reached an agreement with the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) for a six-year project that will include part of the Olympic cycle heading to Tokyo 2020 and full cycle towards the 2024 Olympic Games.
The most winning coach at the club level in the world will perform a dual role as he will remain the coach of Sada Cruzeiro. Méndez collected 28 official trophies during the last nine years with the Brazilian team.
