The 2017 FIVB World League – Group 3 winners Estonia beat Slovakia on the road in Poprad, in Pool A, by a 3-1 (25-22, 24-26, 25-19, 25-17). The national team from the Baltic made an impressive reception (72%) while Renee Teppan was their best scorer with 22 points. Oliver Venno recorded 72% attack (13/18).
In the same pool, Belgium defeated the home side od Sweden in four sets as well, partially 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17. Tomas Rousseaux topped „Red Dragons“ with 16 points, while Igor Grobelny made 77% attack (10/13) and 73% reception (15 digs, 2 errors, 27% excellent). Sweden made notable blocking display as a team with 14 kill blocks (Wilhelm Nilsson 6, Viktor Lindberg 5).
Finland was ruthless against the Czech Republic at home in Mikkeli, in Pool C, 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 27-25). Samuli Kaislasalo top scored the Scandinavian side with 21 points. Tommi Siirilä contributed with 6 kill blocks.
In a derby of the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal proved too strong for Spain, 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22). Marco Evan Ferreira was the best scorer in the winning side with 21 points. Portugal recorded as much as 82% reception with Caíque Silva standing out with 92% (12 digs, 25% excellent)! João Fidalgo made 89% (19 digs, 1 error, 68% excellent).
