ACCH M: Group stage over – Ardakan, Sanest, Lions, and Wapda claim top spot in their respective pools

Khatam Ardakan, Sanest Khánh Hòa, Lanka Lions, and Wapda finished group stage of the 2018 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, as top seeds, all by achieving a perfect record in their respective pools.

Led by a two-time consecutive MVP, Shahram Mahmoudi, the Iranian representatives Khatam Ardakan made a clean sweep in Pool A by beating Kazakh side Atyrau and Japanese Toray Arrows by 3-1 and 3-0, respectively, to punch an automatic ticket for the quarterfinal and No.1 rank overall.

Sanest Khánh Hòa from Vietnam stunned Chinese Sichuan by a 3-0 (25-22 26-24 25-17) in the last round of Pool B to claim the top spot. Từ Thanh Thuận from the winning side scored game-high 13 points.

Lanka Lions from Sri Lanka staged a remarkable turnaround from 0-2 to 3-2 against Thai side Nakhonratchasima The Mall VC to settle at the top of Pool C – 20-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 15-11. Romesh Hehathpurage Deepthi was unstoppable in the Lions with 29 points and impressive 67.6% hitting.

Pakistan’s Wapda prevailed in a five-setter against Binagar from Turkmenistan, partially 17-25, 25-21, 25-17, 18-25, 15-13, and secured No.1 in Pool D.
