In the final of the 2019 SEA Games Men’s Volleyball Tournament in the Philippines, Indonesia defeated the home team in straight sets, partially 25-21, 27-25, and 25-17 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig. Thus, Indonesia won their 10th gold medal in the competition (record winners) but first after a decade. They finished the Games with a perfect record overall (5-0) and by losing only one set. As for the Philippines, their last and only participation in the final was in the inaugural edition of the event (1977) when they lost to Myanmar (at that time, the name of the country was Burma).
Putu Randu, the middle blocker from the club in the home league Surabaya Samator, top-scored for Indonesia in the gold medal encounter with 20 points. Philippine superstar Marck Espejo from Cignal HD Spikers scored 15 points for the losing side.
Thailand won the women’s title.
