Al Arabi ended Al Rayyan SC’s three-year domination in Qatar exactly by beating them in the 19th round of the national championship 3-1 (21-25 25-16 25-21 25-22). Thus, Al Arabi regained the title which they won last time before Al Rayyan started their supremacy.

The triumph versus Al Rayyan was Al Arabi’s 18th in the league so, they secured title one round before the end of the season by going up to unassailable 52 points. Second placed Al Rayyan remained at 44 points.

The Cuban Jorge González García was the leading scorer for Al Arabi, getting 22 points. His compatriot Osmel Camejo was the next best with 14. For Al Rayyan, Dahi Waleed Mubarak got 23 points as the only player in his team with double digits. Al Rayyan could not count on the Russian Dmitriy Ilinykh for this match.

In the last round, three teams will battle for the two available spots in Qatar Cup (the first four teams from the league will qualify). Besides Al Arabi and Al Rayyan, which have already qualified, El Jaish SC, Police SC Doha and Al Ahli SC Doha still have the chance to participate in a prestigious tournament.
