For the third time in the last four seasons, Shanghai and Beijing will battle for the title in the Chinese top division. It is the outcome that could be predicted even before the start of the season, for many reasons. One of them is money. Although money does not always guarantee sucess in sport, from example of Shanghai and Beijing, the two wealthiest clubs in China who can afford to hire almost any foreign player they wish, we see it does. Throughout the season – including Regular Season, Top 8 and playoff semifinals – both teams suffered only three defeats combined: Beijing had 17-1 (undefeated in Regular Season) while Shanghai got 16-2. Both teams swept rivals away in the best-of-five playoff semis.
Game 3:
Shanghai defeated Ba’yi in straight sets for the third time in series, partially 25-20, 25-22, 25-17, with 16 points from Argentinean Facundo Conte.
Beijing drop one set to Sichuan, second in three games in the series: 25-19, 28-30, 25-20, 25-20. Cuban Oreol Camejo scored 23 points for the winners.
Chinese best-of-five playoff final series between Beijing (have home court advantage) and Shanghai sets off on March 5.
