Without Zhu Ting, Hui Ruoqi and several other players around which revolves their play, the Chinese NT lost the second match in Top 8, where they have barely qualified, to reach a 0-2 record. On the other hand, Thailand joined Japan (who beat Chinese Taipei 3-0 in Round 2 with 15 points apiece from Yurie Nabeya and Haruyo Shimamura) at the head of Pool F, both having 2-0 and both being unbeaten in the tournament, so far. Hattaya Bamrungsuk made 19 points for Thailand while Ye Jin scored 19 points as well on the other side.
In Pool E, South Korea beat the hosts Philippines in straight sets, partially 25-23, 25-18, 25-12. Kazakhstan outclassed Vietnam after having a slow start of the match by a 3-1. Both Japan and Kazakhstan have 2-0, remaining unbeaten sides in the tournament.
