Azerbaijan has surprised Japan, despite the awful start and opening 8-0 deficit… Azeri team lost that first set, but then Polina Rahimova started making points from all positions. She made 33 points in total and was the key player for a big comeback. Azerbaijan – Japan 3-2 (17-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 15-9).
In the other match, Dominican Republic has defeated Germany on a German way – fighting until the very end – 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 15-13).
Bethania De La Cruz was the top scorer in the winning team with 20 points, while on the other side Margareta Kozuch scored 15.
