Azerbaijan’s Telekom BAKU – formerly known as Rabita – are hoping for a successful participation in the 2016 edition of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. They will be making their debut on October 29 at Sarhadchi Sport Olympic Centre in Baku playing Poland’s Impel WROCLAW.

Coach of Telecom Zoran Gajić said: “This season our roster includes many young players whose perspectives for the future look very promising. However, some experienced foreign players have also joined the team in order to strengthen the group. We started our preparations already on August 5 here in Baku. Our hopes to achieve good results rely especially on our good training programme and on the team work we have tried to develop. Telekom BAKU already participated in an international tournament which took place recently in the city of Bursa, Turkey. It was the first event organised before the start of the 2015-2016 season where many good teams tested their strength and condition. We finished that tournament in second place and our participation helped us identify our weaknesses so that we could immediately start working on the things we need to improve on.”

Team captain Ana Cleger said: “We are going to work hard with the players who just joined us and if we follow the instructions and recommendations of our head coach, I am confident that we can achieve good results this season. We also hope that with our first Champions League match on October 29 versus Impel WROCLAW we will provide our fans with something to cheer about.
