The regular season in Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 (Brazilian women’s volleyball league) is over and the biggest sensation of the tournament Minas Tênis Clube, who secured the first place in the standings earlier, found out the name of their rival in the playoff quarterfinals starting on March 18.

Minas Tênis Clube rounded up their amazing season so far in Superliga, in which they secured the top seed for the playoffs, by defeating Curitiba Vôlei in the last round of the regular phase by a 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-16). Thus, Minas finished regular season with only 2 defeats in 22 matches and with 59 points. Interestingly, these two teams will also meet in the best-of-three playoff quarterfinals knowing the fact that Curitiba settled at the eighth place in the standings. Bruna Honório was the top scorer for Minas in the match with 23 points.

Thanks to a versatile display of Ana Beatriz Corrêa (15 points/3 aces/6 kill blocks), Sesc RJ beat Dentil/Praia Clube by a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-20) in a rerun of the last season’s playoff finals to seal the third place in the standings, pushing Hinode Barueri to No.4. It means that Barueri will face Osasco Voleibol Clube/Audax in Paulista classic (derby of the state of São Paulo) in the opening round of the playoffs.
