In a game worthy of the greatest Brazilian female volleyball classic, and one of the biggest derbies in the world, Sesc RJ beat Osasco/Audax on the road in the tie-break: 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-5).

Osasco-vs-Sesc

Sesc beat Osasco in front of the packed stands in São Paulo (nearly 4,000 spectators) in an exciting match valid for the sixth round of the 2019/20 Superliga Feminina regular season. With the win in the “clássico”, Sesc remained one of the three unbeaten teams in the league (Osasco was fourth prior to the match) and leader in the charts with 6-0 and 17 points. Osasco came in fourth with 4-1 and 12 points.

The one-time Olympic champion Tandara Caixeta has returned to the hall in which she played before leaving for China in 2018 and was booed and whistled since the moment she started to warm up, Brazilian media reported. Clearly, Osasco fans couldn’t forgive her moving to Asia which they also showed by waving with giant reproductions of $1.00 bill from the stands. However, one part of the fans greeted her after the match.

Tandara scored game-high 22 points. Juciely Silva had 5 kill blocks, while Amanda Francisco made an impressive 87% reception (23 digs, 26% excellent). Serbian Ana Bjelica top-scored for Osasco with 21 points, while legendary Jaqueline Endres “Jaque” made 83% reception (23 digs, 57% excellent).
