Mari, who until recently competed in beach volleyball, returned to indoor courts at the age of 37. Brazilian player, an Olympic champion in Beijing 2008, reinforced the club from her home country. Mari will defend the colors of the 2020/21 Superliga participants Fluminense.
The last club of an outside hitter was Sesi Vôlei Bauru, in 2016/17. That season she was struggling with injuries, which led to the end of her career. On the beach, Mari partnered with another Beijing Olympics gold medalist, Paula Pequeno, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, these two only played two official games.
In indoor volleyball, aside from the Olympics in the Chinese capital, Mari won the 2011 Pan American Games and four editions of the FIVB World Grand Prix (2004, 2006, 2008, and 2009). On a club level, she claimed four Brazilian Championships and one Italian league and Super Cup apiece.
