“I think that (favoritism) exists and can not be ignored. But it’s not an everyday thing, we can not stay focused and think that we have a responsibility and an obligation (to win). We think that we are capable, but we have a team on the other side that is working and training to overcome us. They have players who are used to playing decision matches and a coaching staff as competent as ours“ Fe Garay said.
“The first thing is to start training in the morning, since the game is in the morning and we will need to have this adaptation. Technically, the first week we train hard to improve what we have to improve, looking at our team. Later the focus will be on their team. I believe that Rio has extremely talented players that work well with their technical committee. In Osasco we also have great professionals supporting us.“
Despite playing in the London Olympics, where Brazil won the gold medal, Fernanda Garay admits she is nervous to play her first Superliga final.
“I have butterflies in my stomach. But the hardest thing is not thinking about the game, several days before (the final). At the Olympics it is fast, you play the semifinal, the final, you have no time to think about what will happen. This gives me a lot of butterflies, I do not know what will become of me in these three weeks” she finished.
