But players and coaches landed in São Paulo today, and were happy with the achievement of the ninth World Grand Prix title, so smiles prevailed over tiredness during the whole time thy spent giving interviews or responding to requests of fans at “Guarulhos” International Airport.
The title was the main achievement of the team, but the Brazilians also ensured individual awards. Voted as the best player of the competition, the middle blocker Thaísa highlighted the value of all the teammates in her awards – she has also been voted as the best middle blocker.
“With no doubt, I have to thank all the girls in the team. I was well above my normal and I had the help of all of them. Receiving these awards makes me happy, but I do not care too much about it. I am here to play. We know we have a lot to improve, the team is new and we keep growing in every competition,“ said Thaísa.
The coach of the champions, José Roberto Guimarães, also landed happy and drew attention to the good performance of Brazil facing teams with different styles of play.
“The important thing was how the team played, in the preliminary round of competition and then the Finals, where we had five games and five wins against opponents and different schools,” concluded Ze Roberto.
After the World Grand Prix, the Brazilian team will not have much time to rest, because the next competition, the South American Championship, will start later this month, on September 16-22 in Peru.
