José Roberto Guimarães “Zé Roberto“ confirmed speculations on his departure to Europe for the next club volleyball season.
The focus on the Paris Olympics requires some changes, and Zé Roberto wants to take a few extra steps toward the event in France’s capital. For that, the iconic Brazilian expert, currently at the helm of the country’s women’s national team and Barueri Volleyball Club, negotiates to take over a club in Europe to get closer to some Brazilian players and rivals. In recent weeks, media reported that Zé Roberto would be close to an agreement with Turkey’s Türk Hava Yolları or Italy’s Vero Volley Milano. He, however, claims that nothing is certain yet with neither of the two sides.
“I have talks going on. Not just Turkey, but Italy as well. You’re wondering if there’s a possibility or not. There’s the possibility of being able to follow this international level closer, to be closer to a large center, in a period that precedes the Olympic Games. It’s always an important possibility. I think it’s fundamental,“ Zé Roberto said during the Brazil Olympic Awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro where he was given the honor of the best coach in Brazil in 2022 in team sports by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).
