Sada Cruzeiro started its journey toward a tenth Superliga title on a high note, defeating Juiz de Fora by 3 sets to 1 (25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 25-21).

The home crowd had plenty to celebrate — just days earlier, Cruzeiro had lifted the Supercopa trophy in Campo Grande after a 3–0 victory over Itambé Minas. With that win and the Campeonato Mineiro title already secured this season, the team now boasts two trophies in the early months of play.
Newly promoted Juiz de Fora showed determination in their return to Brazil’s top division. Welinton Oppenkoski led Cruzeiro’s offense with 22 points, while Wesleen Soares stood out for Juiz de Fora, scoring 24.
