BRA W: Gerdau Minas dominates Fluminense

Strong at the net and consistent in defense, Gerdau Minas delivered a convincing performance to defeat Fluminense 3–0 on Tuesday, in the 14th round of the Superliga.

The match, played at the Hebraica gym in Rio de Janeiro, ended with set scores of 25–19, 25–9 and 25–21, as Minas controlled the tempo throughout. With the win, Minas stays in second place with 35 points, just two behind leaders Sesc RJ Flamengo. Fluminense remains sixth in the standings.

Minas’ blocking was decisive, producing 13 points, including six by Julia Kudiess, the league’s top blocker. A key sequence in the second set turned a 3–3 tie into a commanding advantage that sealed the set.

Offensively, Hilary Johnson led the way with 17 points, while Maria Khaletskaya added 14 and Kudiess finished with 10. Libero Nyeme Costa was named the match’s best player, earning the MVP award.

Fluminense struggled to find rhythm and finished with just four blocks. Ariane led the home side with 11 points.
