A controversial rule of Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) that ranks players by points and practically sets limits for clubs which players to hire almost caused a retirement of one big name.

Elisângela

The opposite hitter Elisângela Oliveira joined Vôlei Nestlé Osasco before the start of ongoing season and already played several matches for this team in pre-season tournament, Paulista championship.

Still, a 37-year-old bronze medalist at the 2000 Sydney Olympics with Brazil could not continue playing for Osasco because of the CBV regulation which says that the maximum score expected by the ranking is 43 points. Osasco have exceeded the limit.

It almost culminated with Elisângela’s retirement which caused protests of Superliga players against CBV in October.

Now, the veteran opposite signed for São Bernardo Vôlei and there she will spend, probably, her last professional season.
