Praia vs. Sesi
By shattering their opponents in the first set, Praia showed from the start they would dictate the pace at home, where are undefeated, and came to the ninth consecutive win in Brazilian Superliga.
Sesi, who had new coach on the bench instead of Talmo Oliveira (Marcos Pacheco from Men’s team of Sesi) tried to react in the second set, but Walewska Oliveira’s experience weighed on decisive points for Praia, followed by good distribution of the setter Cláudia Silva ‘Claudinha’. American Alexandra Klineman topped Praia’s scorers with 16 points. Ellen Braga collected same amount of points for Sesi.
With the win, Praia reached 45 points in their fight with Rexona-Ades for the isolated leadership in the standings. Sesi-SP, in turn, continues their battle for the playoffs with 25 points only which definitely was not expected before the season.
With Paula Pequeno having gala night (34 points), Terracap/Brasília Vôlei had virtually flawless game and almost left court with victory over reigning champions Rexona-Ades. The team coached by Bernardo Rezende ‘Bernardinho’ narrowly avoided to suffer defeat from the hosts by saving two match points to win the match 3-2 (25-13, 26-28, 17-25, 26-24, 15-7). It was the 15th victory in a row for Rexona in this season’s Superliga.
Thanks to a fine role by middle blocker Thaísa Menezes (13 points), Vôlei Nestlé/Osasco had no hard time defeating visitors Pinheiros/Klar 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-16) keeping themselves on the third place on the table. Letícia Hage collected 10 in Pinheiros.
