Brazil to host World League and Grand Prix matches in brand new gymnasium

Brazil will host the FIVB World League and FIVB World Grand Prix in the brand new facility, which was built as part of the Olympic complex for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games.

„Carioca Arena 1“ is located in Rio de Janeiro’s neighbourhood, in Barra de Tijuca, and will welcome the women’s teams of Brazil, Italy, Japan and Serbia in the Preliminary Round of the World Grand Prix, on June 9-12. It will also welcome men’s team of Brazil, Iran, Argentina and USA in the Preliminary Round of the World League, on June 16-18.

The brand new Olympic facility „Carioca Arena 1“, will be the venue for basketball at this year’s Olympics and its event operating capacity will be tested with volleyball.

Of course, the men’s and women’s Olympic volleyball tournament will be played at famous „Maracanãzinho Aren“, the traditional home for this sport in Rio de Janeiro.
