„Mila & Shiro“, the Japanese cartoon which inspired many kids around the world to start practicing volleyball, is celebrating their 30th birthday of broadcasting abroad.

The first series was named „Attacker You!“ and was firstly broadcasted on April 13, 1984. Two years later, it was transmitted in Italy, Poland, Spain, France… „Mila & Shiro“ gained the greatest popularity in Italy where it has been rerun several times since then.

Basically, it is a story of the 13-year-old girl Yu (You) Kazuki moving from countryside, where she lived with grandparents, to Tokyo where she started to live with her father. She had a dream of playing volleyball at the 1988 Olympics and joined school team, but with her father being against it. She progressed from the worst to the best player of her team, making great friendships and falling in love, besides enjoying in volleyball adventures.
