WL 2016: Bruno – “It was too hot… Still, Serbia deserved this win”

by WoV

It was one of the hottest days in Belgrade this year, while it was even warmer in the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall. To be quite fair, the conditions for one volleyball match were just far from normal.

For that reason, the game between Serbia and Brazil lasted for more than 2 and half hours! And there was no tie-break! At the end of the match, Ricardo Lucarelli was not feeling well, so he had to go to the locker room with a help of a team doctor.

Still, Brazil captain Bruno Rezende did not want to use the conditions in the gym as an excuse for a defeat. He congratulated Serbia on a well-deserved win.

It was too hot in the gym. In my opinion those were not normal conditions for a volleyball match, but that is not an excuse. It was the same both for us and for them. We committed some mistakes today and Serbia scored a well-deserved victory.”
