A two-time CEV European Championship winner could not stay immune to the call of Zé Roberto, the coach of Brazilian NT and Vôlei Hinode Barueri, and will definitely join in the club that will make its debut in the Brazilian Superliga in 2017/18. Furthermore, as Barueri reported on their Facebook page, Skowrońska continued the rehabilitation process after the surgery for the anterior cruciate ligament injury, which she underwent in February, in Zé Roberto’s training center.
In an interview for „WP SportoweFakty“, she confirmed rumors of being contacted by Zé Roberto, that circulated the whole summer, but accepted only his second offer to play for his club. And the reason was not in connection with the finances, but with the state of her injury, and body, in general. But, now, it’s clear…
„In the last week of July, I’ll return to Poland to do the evaluation of my injury, pack another suitcase and return to Brazil for the whole season,“ Skowrońska said.
How it all started? Firstly, the legendary coach called her right after she sustained injury while competing with Foppapedretti Bergamo in Italy and offered her to recover in Brazil and then play for his team, which he took over in October 2016. She said „no“ to playing, but „yes“ for the everything else.
The second invitation came in April, during the Final Four of the CEV Champions League. And she accepted it already then!
„He’s a very stubborn and consistent man. I’m glad he succeeded, because I can participate in his own project. His family owns a sports center where I’ll live, he and his family live in Barueri, too. He still loves this sport very much and after the season got finished, he still wanted to lead the team in Superliga. And to go somewhere outside of São Paulo would probably be too much for him. I think this was the reason he decided to create a top division team, to be at home,“ Skowrońska explained.
