2017 is really a bad year for the Brazilian Women’s Volleyball player Gabriela Guimarães ’Gabi’.

One of the best Brazilian female players at the moment, a 23-year-old Gabi has suffered the second heavy injury in only six months.

After getting an ankle injury in the playoffs of the Brazilian Superliga in March, from which she successfully recovered and competed for her national team in the 2017 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup, she suffered another blow. During the tournament in Japan, she started to feel the pain in her right knee.

After the WGCC, she underwent further examinations which showed that she will have to be operated.

„Her case is surgical and we need to do this procedure as soon as possible. The injury is in the patellar tendon of the right knee. Despite all the reinforcement we made on that spot, unfortunately, we came to the conclusion that the best thing for her is to operate,“ the doctor of the Brazilian NT said and added that the player herself and her club were informed on this and they all accepted the diagnosis.

The predictions say that Gabi will miss the entire first part of the season with Sesc RJ Vôlei (ex-Rexona/Sesc) since the recovery from this kind of injury lasts for approximately three months.
