The women’s European Championship is starting on Friday and let us present the Pool A.

Serbia

Serbia

Ankara Sports Hall in Turkey will host these six teams: Turkey, Bulgaria, Finland, France, Greece and Serbia. The top four teams from this group will continue their journey in the 8th finals crossing their ways with teams from Pool C.

The reigning champions Serbia will try to win the title for the third time in history, after 2011 and 2017. Zoran Terzic’s side doesn’t have any pressure since they reached the most important goal this year – qualifying for the Olympic Games. Any medal will satisfy the girls from Serbia but we are pretty much sure that they are aiming the gold medal.

The host of the teams from Pool A, Turkey, have also big expectations for this tournament. The head coach Giovanni Guidetti is expecting to see his team at the podium. In 2017, they ended in third place and they are now ready to make a better result compared to the previous championship.

Bulgaria and France are hoping to reach the 8th finals, while Finland and Greece are underdogs in this Pool and they will try to surprise the rivals in the group.

First round schedule:

France – Bulgaria 13:30 CET (Friday, 23 August)

Serbia – Finland 16:00 CET (Friday, 23 August)

Turkey – Greece 19:00 CET (Friday, 23 August)
