Ukraine-vs-Netherlands

After beating debutants Montenegro, yesterday, the “Oranje“ downed Ukraine today by a 3-0 as well, but not so easy as in their opener. The Dutch team took the first two set with a point difference, partially it was 28-26, 29-27 and 25-21. Actually, both the Netherlands and Ukraine had their chances to win each of the first two sets, dropping a couple of set points before the hosts prevailed, giving joy to 3,500 fans at the Ahoy Sport & Exhibition Centre in Rotterdam.

Nimir Abdel-Aziz led scorers of the winning sides with 21 points, including 4 aces. Michael Parkinson added 4 kill blocks. Oleh Plotnytskyi made 13 points for Ukraine.

France

France

France wrote down their second victory in as many games in Pool A, at home in Montpellier. The “Les Bleus“ surpassed Greece in front of nearly 6,000 fans at the Sud de France Arena, which was larger attendance compared to their opener against Romania, two days ago.

France achieved a clear 3-0 win over the Mediterranean nation, only having to work hard in the third set when their head coach Laurent Tillie decided to give the chance to some bench players like Chinenyeze and Brizard. Earvin Ngapeth, for whom it was said that he was not fully ready to play first three matches of EuroVolley due to injury, was on the court today after all. He performed as a libero in the second and third set (was registered as libero in the opener as well but did not go in)!

Stephen Boyer was unstoppable for Greek players, tallying 25 points (66% attack success rate), while Kévin Tillie made 90% positive reception (10 digs, 60% excellent). Nikos Zoupani scored 13 points for Greece.
