Olympiacos Piraeus will play the semifinals of the Challenge Cup for the third time in the last four editions. The Greek side overcame the barrier of Hungaria’s Swietelsky Békéscsaba in this year’s quarterfinals.
After 45 minutes of a play in the rematch, the “Red and Whites” got the first two sets needed to seal the semifinal ticket, as they recorded a 3-1 win in the first match on the road. Then, Olympiacos head Branko Kovačević made a few changes in the lineup, which Békéscsaba took advantage of and won the match in the tie-break: 3-2 (17-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-9).
American Regan Hood-Scott and German Saskia Hippe led the hosts with 14 points apiece. Spaniard Milagros Collar notched 21 points for the losing side.
