After announcing Men’s and Women’s Champions League dream teams composed of European players for the last decade, CEV made two more interesting elections – for the best five non-European players that competed in these tournaments in the past 20 years. The system of electing was the same, through the discussion between renowned coaches.
Italian Roberto Piazza, Romanian Stelian Moculescu, and the Australian Mark Lebedew took part in choosing male players. Their choice was as follows:
1. Bruno Rezende “Bruninho“ (Brazil)
2. Clayton Stanley (USA)
3. Sérgio Santos “Serginho“ (Brazil)
4. Lloy Ball (USA)
5. Matthew Anderson (USA)
Italian Massimo Barbolini, Brazilian Marco Aurélio Motta and Dutch Avital Selinger picked top five non-European female players:
1. Zhu Ting (China)
2. Jordan Larson (USA)
3. Hélia Souza “Fofão“ (Brazil)
4. Kim Yeon-Koung (South Korea)
5. Mirka Francia (Cuba)
