Italy’s A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano, Turkey’s VakıfBank İstanbul and Fenerbahçe Opet İstanbul, and Poland’s Developres Rzeszów secured their quarter-final slots in the CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Women last week, some even earlier than that, all topping their respective pools.

The fate of Italy’s Igor Gorgonzola Novara (ITA) is quite bizarre. For some time, they were considered sure participants of the playoffs, but then CEV overturned its decision to not allow Russia’s Dinamo Moscow to postpone their match against Czech’s VK Dukla Liberec. Dinamo prevailed in it and scheduled a direct face-off against Novara for the top spot in Pool C today. Led by Nataliya Goncharova (16 points), the Russian side dominated Serie A vice-champions on the road – 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) – and booked a ticket for the Top-8. At the same time, Dinamo ended Novara’s campaign in the competition, as the team commanded by Stefano Lavarini finished 4th in the runners-up ranking.

With 2 successive wins that followed the same number of successive defeats, Russia’s Lokomotiv Kaliningrad Region ended 2nd in Pool A and 1st in the runners-up ranking. The decisive step toward playoffs came today with a 3-0 victory over Poland’s Developres Rzeszów.

As expected, Russia’s Dinamo-Ak Bars Kazan had no problems against Bulgaria’s VC Maritza Plovdiv and settled below the Pool D winners Fenerbahçe Opet İstanbul, taking 2nd place among runners-up across all pools.

Italy’s Vero Volley Monza passed to the quarter-finals after scoring a 3-0 triumph in Finland against LP Salo, improving their point stock in Pool B, sealing the 2nd position in it, and claiming 3rd position among runners-up across all pools.

Aside from Novara, another big name of European women’s club volleyball is eliminated – Poland’s Grupa Azoty Chemik Police. A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano gave no dicsount to TAURON Liga titleholders in the least match of Pool E: 3-0.

The list of the teams that will play the quarter-finals:

Pool winners: Developres, VakıfBank, Dinamo Moscow, Fenerbahçe, and Imoco.

Best 3 runners-up: Lokomotiv, Dinamo Kazan, and Monza.
