Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia are unstoppable this season. In Round 4 of the 2023 CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League, they beat Ziraat Bank Ankara 3-1.
So far in the season, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia left the impression of having practically no weak links. The Italian runners-up beat Turkish titleholders Ziraat Bank Ankara 3-1 in the 4th round of Pool E of the CEV Champions League Volley 2023 | Men and thus achieved their 21st success in a row since the beginning of the season (counting all competitions), the fourth in as many games in the CL. Andrea Ansatsi’s wards did so only three days after the triumph in the FIVB Club World Championship on the other continent and without Wilfredo León and Kamil Rychlicki today.
Cuban Jesús Herrera was Perugia’s top scorer today with 20 points, including 4 blocks. The Dutchman Wouter ter Maat tallied 14 points for the Ankara side who’s disappointing 1-3.
Just like Perugia, their fellow countrymen from Trentino Itas also had to commit to their obligations in the Champions League right after the Club World Champs. Unlike Perugia’s rival, their rival wasn’t that renowned hence they needed to put in a lot lower level of intensity to prevail. Angelo Lorenzetti put Kaziyski and Lavia to the rest but his team swept Czech’s ČEZ Karlovarsko and are 4-0 in Pool D.
Alessandro Michieletto stood out for Trentino with 15 points. Czech Donovan Džavoronok had 73% attack (11/15), while Gabriele Laurenzano made 70% reception (10 digs, 1 error, 30% excellent).
