EuroVolley 2023 Day Three Recap: Teams That Stood Out

The third day of EuroVolley2023 for women saw a plethora of exciting matches with Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium leading the victory parade.

Pool A: Hosted by Belgium, the only match witnessed the home team’s clean sweep, defeating Hungary 3-0 at the buzzing Sport Vlaanderen Gent. With 16 points, Britt Herbots led the score for Belgium, gearing up for their next clash against Slovenia on Saturday.

Pool B: Bulgaria showcased their prowess, defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina, marking their second win of the championship. The match saw a score of 25-20, 25-19, 19-25, 25-18, with Radostina Marinova being the star player, scoring 19 points. Bosnia and Herzegovina, after their previous win against Switzerland, are prepping up for an intense match against Croatia on Friday.

The second Pool B match saw Romania’s stellar performance against Croatia, winning in four sets. Elizabeth Inneh-Varga from Romania stood out with her 22 points.

Pool C: Germany had a challenging start but managed to secure a win against Greece with a score of 3-0 at Düsseldorf. The notable event was Hanna Orthmann’s early exit due to an injury, raising concerns about her participation in future matches. Germany will face Azerbaijan on Saturday post their rest day on Friday.

Pool D: In Estonia, the Netherlands met expectations by defeating Spain, with Jolien Knollema scoring a leading 16 points. Slovakia, on the other hand, overpowered Finland in a 3-0 match.
