The fifth round of the CEV Champions League pool stage wrapped up on Thursday. Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul and A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano, once again demonstrated their dominance in their pools.
Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul continued their unbeaten streak by decisively overcoming Calcit Kamnik. Notably, they have yet to lose a single set in this year’s campaign. Their victory was highlighted by the outstanding performance of Ana Cristina, who emerged as the match’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) with a remarkable tally of 19 points. Their defensive strength was also evident as they recorded an impressive 11 block points, contributing to a 3-0 win (21-25, 17-25, 19-25) over their opponents.
Similarly, A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano asserted their supremacy in Pool D with a crushing victory over Asterix Avo Beveren. Isabelle Haak, with a total of 22 points and a 73% success rate in attack, led her team to a convincing 3-0 win (11-25, 14-25, 14-25). Her performance not only contributed significantly to the team’s victory but also earned her another MVP award.
Other matches in the round saw ŁKS Commercecon Łódź secure a 3-0 away win (25-16, 25-20, 25-14) against CS Volei Alba Blaj. In another match, SC Prometey Dnipro celebrated a 3-1 home victory (25-20, 25-13, 24-26, 25-16) over Volero Le Cannet.
The triumphs of Fenerbahce and Imoco Conegliano, both securing five wins and 15 points, have already guaranteed them victories in their respective pools.
