SVG Lüneburg has advanced to the 2025 CEV Champions League quarter-finals after a dramatic golden set win over Berlin Recycling Volleys.
After securing a 3-2 home victory in the first leg, Lüneburg faced a fierce challenge in Berlin. The hosts dominated the opening set 25-13, but Lüneburg responded, taking the next two sets 25-23. Berlin forced a fifth set with a 27-25 win and edged out Lüneburg 17-15 to tie the match.
With a quarter-final spot on the line, Lüneburg held their nerve in the golden set, winning 15-13. Jake Hanes was the match’s top scorer with 44 points, but his efforts weren’t enough for Berlin.
Lüneburg now moves on to face Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the next round.
