Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia took a big step toward the CEV Champions League semifinals, defeating Mint Vero Volley Monza 3-1 (25-19, 16-25, 17-25, 25-27) in the first leg of the quarterfinals played in Monza.
Monza started strong, winning the opening set, but the Italian champions quickly took control, dominating the rest of the match. Kamil Semeniuk was the star of the night, scoring 17 points and earning MVP honors with a 58% attack efficiency, two blocks, and 60% reception.
Perugia’s superior attacking and blocking (9-14) proved decisive, with Wassim Ben Tara (12), Agustin Loser (12), and Yuki Ishikawa (11) adding to the team’s firepower. On the other side, Erik Rohrs and Taylor Averill led Monza with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
The decisive second leg is set for March 20 in Perugia. The winner will secure a spot in the Final Four in Łódź (May 16-18), facing the victor of the Halkbank Ankara vs. PGE Projekt Warszawa matchup.
