After Bulgaria’s stunning performance at the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship in the Philippines, the country is gripped by volleyball fever. To harness this surge of national enthusiasm, the CEV has confirmed that all EuroVolley 2026 Men’s matches originally scheduled in Varna will now be played at Arena 8888 in Sofia.
The move will allow thousands more fans to experience the action live, as the venue holds up to 12,000 spectators. It will host Pool B matches and later rounds, welcoming teams such as Poland, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Portugal, and Israel.
Lubomir Ganev, President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, said the decision was difficult but necessary. “Varna has always been the heart of Bulgarian volleyball, but after our team’s incredible success, Sofia offers the best opportunity for players and fans alike,” he explained.
Previously known as Arena Armeec, the Sofia venue has hosted major international tournaments, including the 2015 EuroVolley Men and the 2018 FIVB World Championship, and remains a symbol of Bulgaria’s sporting excellence.
