Allianz Milano took a major step toward the CEV Challenge Cup quarterfinals with a convincing 3–0 away win over Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) Belgrade in the first leg of the round of 16.

The Italian side controlled the match at the Voždovac Sports Center, dominating the first and third sets and holding firm in a tight second to close the contest in just over an hour. Captain Ferre Reggers starred with 20 points, while Ichino and Recine added 11 apiece. Milano’s blocking proved decisive, accounting for nine points.
The victory carried special meaning for Nemanja Masulovic, who became a father for the second time earlier in the day. Milano now need only two sets in the return leg in Milan on January 28 to book their place in the next round.
