SVG Lüneburg Reach CEV Cup Semi-Finals with 3–1 Win in Poitiers

SVG Lüneburg booked their place in the CEV Cup semi-finals after defeating Alterna SPVB Poitiers 3–1 (29–27, 19–25, 26–24, 26–24) in a tense quarterfinal second leg.

In front of 1,892 fans in Poitiers, both teams played a tight match that was reflected in the final statistics, with the total points ending 100–100.

The opening set was closely contested before Lüneburg edged it 29–27 in extra points. Poitiers responded in the second set, using strong attacks from Kevin Kobrines and Simon Magnin to level the match 25–19.

The third set proved decisive. Trailing late, Lüneburg mounted a comeback led by Ethan Champlin, who delivered a crucial serving run to turn a 22–24 deficit into a 26–24 win, securing the two sets needed to advance. With qualification already sealed, the German side still finished strong, taking the fourth set 26–24.

Thomas Pujol was the match’s top scorer with 17 points for Poitiers, while Axel Enlund led Lüneburg with 15 points. Setter Santeri Välimaa was named MVP.

Lüneburg will now face the winner of the quarterfinal between Greenyard Maaseik and Galatasaray HDI Istanbul in the semi-finals.
