Czechia secured their place in the knockout stage of CEV Enel EuroVolley with a comfortable straight-sets victory over Slovakia, while Greece delivered one of the biggest surprises of the tournament by defeating Slovenia 3-1.
Czechia were in control for most of their meeting with Slovakia in Modena. After a competitive opening set, they raised their level from the service line and in attack, with Patrik Indra and Lukas Vašina leading the way.
Indra finished with 18 points, including 16 kills, while Vašina added 13 as Czechia completed a 25-21, 25-14, 25-20 victory. The result gave them a third win of the tournament and confirmed their progression to the next round.
Greece then turned attention to Pool A with an impressive performance against Slovenia. They took the first set 25-18 before Slovenia responded in the second, but the match swung dramatically late in the third.
Slovenia held a 23-21 advantage, only for Greece to recover and take four straight points to win the set 25-23. That comeback proved crucial, and Greece carried the momentum into the fourth, closing out a 3-1 victory.
Dimitrios Mouchlias led Greece with 12 points, while Alexandros Raptis added 11 and Angelos Markou contributed 10 after making an impact from the bench.
Germany also continued their strong run in Pool D, remaining unbeaten after a 3-1 win over Switzerland. Tobias Brand was the standout performer with 25 points as Germany recovered from losing the third set.
Hosts Romania secured their place in the knockout stage with a 3-1 victory over Türkiye in Cluj-Napoca. Alexandru Rață scored 22 points for Romania, who produced another confident display in front of their home supporters.
Belgium strengthened their position in Pool C with a four-set win against Estonia. Sam Deroo led the scoring with 22 points as the Red Dragons regained control after dropping the second set.
Serbia produced the most dramatic comeback of the day, recovering from two sets down to beat the Netherlands 3-2. After edging the third set 30-28, Serbia dominated the fourth before winning a tense tie-break 17-15, with Dražen Luburić playing a central role in the turnaround.
