In the semi-finals of the 9th edition of the European League (mostly serving as a qualifying tournament for the FIVB World Grand Prix), Finland prevailed in a thrilling ancounter versus hosts Slovakia 3-2 (25-23, 15-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-12), in Poprad, making an advantage before the re-match in Helsinki (July 2) as they aim to advance into their first-ever final match in the history of the tournament that is established in 2009. Piia Korhonen, the opposite who will signed for Dresdner SC this summer, scored 24 points for Finland, while Nina Herelová, middle blocker of AGEL Prostějov, topped Slovakia with 20.
Ukraine beat Spain 3-1 in the first leg at home in Ivano-Frankivsk thanks to Nadiia Kodola, a receiver who extended the contract with RC Cannes. She noted 19 points. Naturhouse Ciudad de Logroño receiver Helia González scored 17 for Spain. The 2nd leg is scheduled for July 2 in Guadalajara.
