One of the most titled Italian Women’s volleyball clubs, Foppapedretti Bergamo, nearly withdrew from competing in Serie A1 next season!

As Gian Luca Pasini reported, last seasons Serie A1 playoff quarter-finalists Foppapedretti experienced some serious financial problems and their participation in the national championship for the 2017/2018 season was questionable.

But, an eight-time Italian title holders (second most successful team in Serie A history) and seven-time CEV Champions League winners (most successful Italian team in the tournament) managed to close a budget for the next season in the last moment, on a day when Italian League set a deadline for submitting applications for the 2017/18 Serie A1.

Thus ’Foppa’ avoided the fate of Südtirol Bolzano, who recently announced withdrawing from Italian League for economic reasons.
