The reason is very simple – the Czech boys have downed the reigning champions in four sets 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20).
It’s one of the biggest upsets in a few previous years. The Czech Republic have entered the game as complete underdogs, knowing that there are small chances for advancing to the quarterfinals.
However, they didn’t want to surrender in front of the favorite number one for the gold medal. Moreover, they started playing without any respect.
After taking the first set, Czech Republic let the reigning champions win the second set, but in another two, we saw an absolutely magnificent display of the Czech boys.
Even Earvin Ngapeth couldn’t do anything to save the Team Yavbou.
Stephen Boyer has scored 20 points for France, while on the other side Michal Finger had 19 points and Donovan Dzavoronok added 15!
