CL M: Zaksa edge past Jastrzębski, Chaumont surpass Trentino despite playing without Boyer

Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Chaumont VB 52 Haute Marne victoriously closed the 2018 CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League - Playoffs 12 matchups when it comes to the 1st leg.

Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle defeated rivals from the Polish national championship, Jastrzębski Węgiel, away, in four sets, partially 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, 35-33.  As the result shows, the fourth set was a true war of nerves, which lasted for 39 minutes! The Puerto Rican opposite Maurice Torres topped Zaksa with 25 points, while Maciej Muzaj tallied 20 points for Jastrzębski.

Despite playing with their best scorer, and the second best scorer of the tournament, Stéphen Boyer, Chaumont VB 52 Haute Marne from France edged past Italian side Diatec Trentino, at home, by a 3-2. Boyer’s replacement in the lineup, Tunisian Wassim Ben Tara, and Yacine Louati led Chaumont as they both poured in 18 points. The Serbian Uroš Kovačević scored 16 points for Trentino.
