FIN M: VaLePa maintain leadership as they beat Hurrikaani in big match

VaLePa Sastamala extended their winning streak in the Finnish men’s volleyball championship Mestaruusliiga 2017/2018 to 12 games.

The defending champions of Finland and also the leaders in the standings, VaLePa Sastamala, remained unbeaten in the national championship for the 12th time in a row. They outplayed fourth-ranked Hurrikaani-Loimaa in the big match, on the road, by a 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) with 18 points (3 aces) from Urpo Sivula. The Australian Thomas Douglas-Powell scored 12 points for Hurrikaani.

The second-placed Lentopalloseura Etta came back from two sets behind against home side of Kokkolan Tiikerit, who are are the penultimate position in the standings. Joonas Jokela led Etta with 29 points (3 aces) while Swedish Fredric Gustavsson poured in 31 points for Tiikerit.
