VNL 2019 W: Poland score 5th win in a row, Brazil easily smash last-placed Bulgaria

Poland have beaten the Netherlands in front of their fans in Apeldoorn by a 3-1 (25-13, 25-27, 25-20, 25-15) on Day 3 of the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League.

POOL 8:

Poland’s unbeaten run continued as they beat the Netherlands (2-4) for the fifth straight victory in the tournament (5-1). In the same time, Poland interrupted a six-game losing streak against the Dutch side.

Malwina Smarzek, the top scorer of the 2019 Nations League, was the most prolific player of her team today with 23 points. But, Klaudia Alagierska was the x-factor for Poland. She entered the court in the third set at 20-17 for the Netherlands who lost the next eight points while she was serving (6 aces) and ultimately dropped the set! Agnieszka Kąkolewska made 6 kill blocks for Poland. Nika Daalderop scored 13 points for “Oranje”.

Brazil avoided another five-setter, which could have been their third in a row, as they ran over Bulgaria (last-placed, 0-6) to reach a 4-2 in the tournament.

Ana Paula Borgo top-scored for the “Seleção” with 18 points. Gergana Dimitrova tallied 15 for Bulgaria.
