Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley and Minas Tênis Clube won their first matches in the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Club World Championship in Akara, Turkey.
Imoco’s debut in the 2021 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship was a blast – Turkey’s Fenerbahçe Opet İstanbul was swept with a score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-23) in Pool A. Considering the strength of the two rivals, much more interesting fight was expected, but the Italian side, led by Paola Egonu (22 points) and Pole Joanna Wołosz (four blocks), once again showed they are probably the best team, at least, in Europe, at the moment.
Minas opened their campaign in this year’s edition of the Club World Champ with victory. Brazilian team easily defeated Kazakhstan’s Altay 3-0 in Pool B.
