BO Sport released the big news, saying that instead of the Russia National Team, Ukraine will most likely play at the 2022 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.
After being replaced by Tunisia for the 2022 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League, Russia’s place at the most important event of the year, the 2022 FIVB Men’s World Championship, will be filled with Ukraine – BO Sport revealed. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) didn’t specify the name of the national team that will replace ‘Zbornaya’, sanctioned due to the war its country set off in Ukraine, at the World Champs yet as it’s been dealing with deciding about the new host of the event (instead of Russia) and the new formula – the bidding process is to end on March 14, and on March 21, the organizer(s) will be announced.
The Ukrainians are first in line to fill in Russia’s slot due to the fact that in the fall of 2021, 12 teams made it to the World Championship according to the world ranking, and then Ukraine lacked one position to get a ticket to the tournament (China was ahead of them in the ranking by 6 points).
